The NYOrtho Smokers Apron – Deluxe provides enhanced fireproof protection for wheelchair users exposed to smoking materials. Tested to ASTM F2302 standards, the deluxe model is manufactured using a higher-performance fire-rated material that exceeds the requirements of the standard version while continuing to support a resident’s right to supervised smoking in institutional care settings.

It incorporates ASTM D6413, which measures flame resistance when a fabric is exposed to an open flame, and ASTM F2894, which evaluates heat resistance at elevated temperatures. Together, these tests confirm the material used in the NYOrtho Smokers Apron will not ignite, melt, or drip when exposed to cigarettes, cigars, or burning matches under the tested conditions.
